Our offices run on the efficiency of our computers, so at all times, we need to make doubly sure about our desktops and their peripherals. And small changes in the quality of peripherals we use, such as ink cartridges, UPS or Ethernet ports can change the productivity of our offices and take it to whole new levels of perfection and ease of use.

Our offices practically run on ink cartridges. Printers are probably the most important part and parcel of any operational workplace, and going through ink cartridges is a breeze at regular offices. Hundreds of pages of documents get printed every day, and at the end of the month, one can see that a lot of money is being spent on ink cartridges. So buying cartridges is a task at hand, since they don’t come cheap, if you want to buy from the proper manufacturers, who sell printer-specific ink or OEM Cartridges. There are third-party sellers, who sell locally made ink or Generic or Compatible Cartridges, but these can be a bit dubious, as we have no way of knowing whether these are high-quality or not. And using locally sourced ink cartridges can really mess up the printer heads and the functionality of the printer on the whole. One of the best ways to gather information about ink cartridges is to directly approach the seller and ask for the details of the manufacturer. If the seller has full confidence on the efficiency of his products, he will never deter from providing you with any information regarding his products. Another way to go about buying third-party ink cartridges is to simply buy them online. Almost every reputed online store has user reviews on their website, so you can easily check up on user ratings and then make your own purchase. Also, online stores have coupons and many combo deals that you can make use of, and you can get awesome products at dirt cheap prices from online stores which are much lower than what would have been the cost had you bought from an offline shop. This is possibly the best way to buy ink cartridges, if you are not buying from the manufacturer of the printer itself. The best way to store ink cartridges if they are not being used is to keep them in bags that can be completely sealed. You should place a towel or a sponge inside the bag, and then wrap the cartridge in that sponge or towel, so that if there is any leakage, it gets absorbed by the towel, and doesn’t get all over the ink cartridge. And the ideal place to keep this bag would be in a cool, dry place, so that there is no exposure to sunlight, and you can easily take it out and use it as and when required.
UPS:
Having the best UPS in your office ensures that your desktops keep functioning without any glitches. But there are a few steps that one needs to follow to ensure optimum functionality of the UPS.
I. You should always opt for vendor service contracts, so that if you have any problems, servicing people can immediately come to your office and fix things up. Low-end UPS units don’t have this facility, so make sure if you are using a high-end UPS, you have a service contract drawn up.
II. You should always get an alarm which sets off when the battery in the UPS is running low. If batteries are not replaced or charged at regular intervals, the UPS loses its longevity.
III. One should always keep extra batteries handy when there are more than one UPS in use in the office. Any UPS model in which the batteries can be replaced is the best model to use, as you can keep on using the same UPS without having to stop it to recharge it.
Ethernet Ports:
Any desktop or laptop must have internet connectivity to function the way it was meant to. And this is where Ethernet ports come into play. Ethernet ports are openings in our desktops or laptops, where we can plug in cables which in turn have connections to the server. Through these cables, we can use our computers to log onto the internet. So care needs to be taken that these Ethernet ports are dust free and clean at all times and if a cable is attached to a port, one should always unclip the cable before disconnecting it from the port, and not just pull it out, as it damages the cable head.
